Manchester United keen on Atletico defender Miranda

Manchester United are weighing up a January move for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda as they look to bolster their backline, reports the Daily Star.

The Old Trafford club have been linked with the number of defenders in the past few weeks as their manager Louis van Gaal is desperate to rebuild their defence squad and turn them back into a title contending team.

The report claims that the Brazilian has become van Gaal’s number one January transfer target, and the 30 year old centre-back is said to be available for a fee of around £24 million.

However, it is suggested that the Red Devils will make an initial bid of £20m, before asking about his release clause.

Miranda has scored three goals in 16 appearances for the La Liga champions this season.
