Liverpool to launch bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly

Liverpool are hopeful to complete a move for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Italian media outlet Tuttomercato.

The Reds are ready to make a bid for the Senegal international, after speeding the past six seasons at Naples following his move from Genk in 2014.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his defence ahead of the next season to retain their top-flight crown.

The report adds that the English champions are expected to submit a bid in the coming days for the Senegalese, who is valued at £90million by the Italian giants.

The report does add that the Merseyside outfit could include Dejan Lovren as part of the deal to secure the signing of Koulibaly.

The centre-back has already turned down the chance to move to Newcastle United in the summer.

Koulibaly racked up 16 appearances in Italian top-flight this season as Partenopei look to finish in the top six following a poor campaign.

If the deal goes through, Koulibaly would link up with his compatriot Sadio Mane at Anfield.
