Liverpool begin discussion with Sadio Mane over a new five-and-a-half year deal

Liverpool have reportedly started talks with Sadio Mane over a new five-and-a-half-year deal that would see him become the Reds’ highest-paid player, earning around £220,000-a-week.

The Senegal international penned a new deal to remain at Anfield until 2023 only last November, but the Merseyside giants are ready to improve those terms and extend the duration of his contract.

He was named the joint-winner of the Premier League Golden Boot last term after scoring 22 goals for Liverpool.

The forward currently earns around £150,000-a-week and has continued to increase as one of the club’s most important players.

However, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, the Champions League holders are now in talks with Mane to extend his contract up until 2025.

The former Southampton forward would subsequently become Liverpool’s’ highest earner above Mohamed Salah, who is the club’s first player to break the £200,000-a-week mark.
