Fenerbahce sign Leicester City forward Islam Slimani on loan

Leicester City forward Islam Slimani joins the Süper Lig club Fenerbahce on a one-year loan deal.

The 30-year-old struggled to hold down a regular spot at the King Power Stadium and spent the 2nd half of last season on loan at Newcastle United where he featured on four occasions.

The Foxes had been willing to sell the Algerian on a permanent basis this summer for a bid of around £18m in order to recoup as much of their original outlay as possible.

However, Slimani has now completed a temporary move to the Yellow Canaries, with the Turkish outfit confirming that he will spend ‘at least a year’ at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Slimani has scored 12 times in 47 appearances across all competitions for the East Midlands.

Fenerbahce finished 2nd in the Turkish Super Lig last term, cementing their place in the qualifying round of the Champions League.
