Arsenal targeting Scunthorpe midfielder Joey Dawson

Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in making an audacious move for Scunthorpe midfielder Joey Dawson, according to The Sun.

The Gunners are considering a move to sign the 16-year-old midfielder in a “surprise” swoop.

The teenager became The Iron’s youngest ever first-team player back in August and he has made one appearance so far this term.

Dawson is the son of former Scunthorpe left-back Andy and a nephew of ex-Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Michael Dawson.

The north Londoners could well be linked with a number of players in the January transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the rest of the season.

Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table, and ready to take on Sheffield United away from the Emirates on Monday 21 October.

Unai Emery’s side are looking to try and break back into the top four this season after having finished in fifth and without a trophy in the 2018/19 season.
