Manny Machado gets five game suspension


The Baltimore Orioles star Manny Machado has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine by Major League Baseball for intentionally throwing his bat in Sunday’s game against Oakland, The league confirmed on their official Twitter account.

The incident was triggered when Machado received an inside pitch from A’s reliever Fernando Abad.

After the incident, Machado apologized for his on-field behavior on Monday,

“I want to apologize to all my teammates, my coaching staff, the entire Orioles organization and Oakland, and to our fans for the way I acted and overreacted on that.”

The 21-year-old third baseman, who missed the entire month of April while recovering from his knee surgery, He is batting .229 in 35 games this season, hitting just four homers with 11 RBIs in 140 at-bats.

Although, last year – He was an All-Star who finished with a .283 average and 14 homers.
