India finalizes 2023 ODI World Cup Squad: KL Rahul’s return highlights selections

India has finalized its squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup, with KL Rahul set to make a triumphant return after recovering from a thigh surgery.

Rahul’s successful fitness evaluation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru ensures his place in the 15-member provisional World Cup squad, expected to be announced by September 5th. Apart from his batting skills, Rahul will take on wicketkeeping duties.

Ishan Kishan’s impressive middle-order performance, notably his 81-run knock against Pakistan, secures his spot as the second wicketkeeper. This means Sanju Samson and others like Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna, part of the Asia Cup squad, miss out on the World Cup selection.

Rohit Sharma will lead the squad, while the batting lineup features Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav. The team boasts all-round talent with players like Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur.

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj lead the pace attack, and Kuldeep Yadav handles the spin duties. India’s well-rounded and formidable lineup reflects their aspirations for the World Cup.
