Faulkner signs his new Lancashire contract

Australia allrounder James Faulkner will return to England county cricket next year as overseas player to Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old has extended his new Lancashire contract for the T20 Blast competition in 2017.

Faulkner was an integral part of the county’s triumphant 2015 campaign – claimed 25 wickets and scored more than 300 runs to help the Red Rose club lift the Twenty20 competition in 2015.

The 2015 World Cup winner is set to return to county next July. “I’m absolutely delighted to be returning” the player said. “Finals Day at Edgbaston was one of the best days of my career so hopefully we can replicate the success of 2015 next year.”

Faulkner has 21 T20 caps for Australia – is likely to be a part of country’s Champions Trophy squad in England next summer before heading to the county cricket.
