Arsenal step up pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are making significant strides behind the scenes to secure the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, aiming to beat Manchester United to the prolific Swedish striker this summer.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners are working tirelessly to bring Gyokeres to the Emirates. With new sporting director Andrea Berta actively pushing for the deal, Arsenal have identified the 26-year-old as a top target to lead their frontline next season.

Gyokeres has been in sensational form for Sporting CP, scoring an eye-watering 52 goals this season. The Portuguese giants are reportedly open to reducing their €100 million asking price to facilitate a transfer, acknowledging growing interest from elite clubs.

Manchester United also remain keen on the striker, especially with Ruben Amorim—Gyokeres’ current manager—heavily linked to the Old Trafford job. Amorim’s influence on the Swede’s development could give United an edge, but Arsenal remain undeterred.

With United also closing in on a move for Matheus Cunha, Arsenal see an opportunity to strike quickly. The North London club are preparing formal talks and are confident they can win the race thanks to their stable project and likely Champions League qualification.

While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is another name under consideration, Gyokeres represents a more affordable and attainable solution. Arsenal believe the Sporting star could be the final piece in Mikel Arteta’s attacking puzzle.
