James Taylor to lead England against Ireland next month


The Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has been named as England’s skipper for a one-day international encounter against Ireland next month.

The 25-year-old will lead the squad for the first time after replacing the regular captain Eoin Morgan, who is currently on Indian Premier League duty with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Yorkshire bowler Tim Bresnan has also been included to a squad, while the likes of five uncapped players – Lewis Gregory, Sam Billings, James Vince, David Willey and Zafar Ansari will play for the first time.

Taylor has scored 492 runs at an average of 35.14 in 17 ODI’s for England.

The one-off ODI against Ireland to be played in Dublin on May 8.
