Real Madrid Plot Surprise Swoop for Arsenal’s David Raya

The European giants Real Madrid are reportedly setting their sights on Arsenal’s David Raya as they prepare to reshape their squad for a new era under incoming boss Xabi Alonso.

According to The Sun, Los Blancos are on the hunt for a long-term successor to Thibaut Courtois—and Raya, 29, has emerged as a surprise frontrunner on their shortlist. The Spanish shot-stopper impressed during his debut season at the Emirates, but whether he’d be willing to swap first-team football for a backup role at the Bernabéu remains uncertain.

Madrid are also keeping tabs on Brighton’s rising star Bart Verbruggen. The Dutch international has caught the eye with a string of standout performances this season, yet he too may be reluctant to take on a supporting role, especially with regular minutes at both club and international level.

Another name in the frame is Espanyol’s Joan Garcia. Interestingly, Garcia already agreed personal terms with Arsenal last summer, and a move to North London could be reignited once the transfer window swings open.

With multiple moving parts and top talent in the mix, Madrid’s goalkeeper search is heating up—and David Raya is right in the middle of it.
