Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Mexican sensation Gilberto Mora, with the Club Tijuana prodigy emerging as one of the most exciting young prospects in world football, according to Ekrem Konur.
Rising Star of Mexican Football
At just 16 years and 265 days old, Mora stunned the football world when he started for Mexico in the Concacaf Gold Cup final against the United States in Houston — a match El Tri went on to win. His poise and creativity in midfield have since earned him widespread acclaim across both club and international levels.

Recently, Mora showcased his talent on the global stage, scoring twice in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Spain during the group stage of the U20 World Cup in Chile. His ability to dictate play, combined with his sharp eye for goal, has already drawn comparisons to some of Europe’s most promising young attacking midfielders.
At club level, Mora has continued to impress for Tijuana in Liga MX, tallying five goals and one assist in just 11 appearances this season. Having debuted at only 15 years and 10 months old, he became the third-youngest player ever to feature in the Mexican top flight.
European Giants on Alert
According to the report, Manchester United are monitoring Mora’s progress closely, with scouts regularly assessing his performances. However, they face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Ajax, and Inter Milan, all of whom have sent representatives to watch him at the U20 World Cup. Even Inter Miami are reportedly showing interest as they look to bolster their youthful ranks.
United’s Youthful Vision Continues
Club Tijuana are aware that keeping Mora beyond next summer will be a challenge, with offers expected to exceed his £4 million Transfermarkt valuation.
For United, pursuing Mora would be in line with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s renewed focus on young, high-potential talent, following in the footsteps of Alejandro Garnacho, Hannibal Mejbri, and Álvaro Fernández. Under INEOS, that strategy has continued with emerging names like Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi-Martin, Diego Leon, and Cristian Orozco.
Now, Gilberto Mora could be the next jewel in United’s youth-driven project — a player capable of lighting up Old Trafford for years to come.
