Alastair Cook returns to Essex to play Surrey

England Test skipper Alastair Cook has been named in the Essex squad for his first appearance of the summer ahead of Friday’s NatWest T20 Blast match against Surrey at The Oval.

The 30-year-old last represented the Eagles in T20 cricket more than 12 months ago, he is also due to play for his county in their next LV= County Championship against Derbyshire and Gloucestershire. read more


Essex: Ryan ten Doeschate pens new two-year contract

Essex limited-overs captain Ryan ten Doeschate has committed his future by signing a new two-year contract with the Chelmsford side, that will keep him until the end of the 2016 season.

The Netherlands international has been with the Eagles’ since 2003, and has guided the county into the quarter finals of the T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup last season. read more

The New Zealand all-rounder Jesse Ryder has signed a new two-year contract extensions with English county side Essex, that will keep him at the Chelmsford until the end of the 2016 season.

The 30-year-old has been a key component at Essex – scoring 1,196 runs across all formats in his first season and took 43 County Championship wickets at an average of 17.79. read more
