Alastair Cook returns to Essex to play Surrey

England Test skipper Alastair Cook has been named in the Essex squad for his first appearance of the summer ahead of Friday’s NatWest T20 Blast match against Surrey at The Oval.

The 30-year-old last represented the Eagles in T20 cricket more than 12 months ago, he is also due to play for his county in their next LV= County Championship against Derbyshire and Gloucestershire. read more


South Africa’s Alviro Petersen pens Lancashire deal

Former South Africa batsman Alviro Petersen has joined the County Cricket Club Lancashire after retiring from internationals.

The 34-year-old right-handed batsman, who has previous county experience at Somerset, Essex and Glamorgan but now he has penned a two-year deal with the Red Rose with an option to extend to a third year as a non-overseas player, subject to receiving official clearance. read more
