Manchester United launch final bid to sign Toby Alderweireld

Manchester United have allegedly made one last offer to lure Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld to Old Trafford this summer, according to The Daily Mirror.

The Red Devils have lodged a “take it or leave it” offer for the 29-year-old defender as they look to complete a deal over the line before the summer transfer window shuts down on Thursday afternoon.

The 20-time English champions have been strongly linked with a bid to sign the Belgium international throughout the summer and it appears that they are still determined to get their man ahead of next season.

The report adds that United have made it clear to Spurs that they will not go beyond their £40m valuation of the centre-back as they look to conclude a deal before the deadline.

It is understood that the north Londoners are holding firm on their £55m valuation of Alderweireld, and that has prompted the Red Devils to draw up a list of other potential targets that includes Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng.

Manchester United will begin their new campaign with a home action against Leicester City on Friday night.
