Done Deal: Cleveland Cavaliers sign free agent Forward Shawn Marion

The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced the signing of free agent Shawn Marion after agreeing on a one-year contract with the franchise, the veteran forward confirmed on his Instagram account.

The 36-year-old becomes the latest addition for the Cavs during this busy off-season, who won an NBA championship title with the Dallas in 2011 – averaging 10.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and shooting 48 percent in 76 games last season for the Mavericks.

“Shawn brings great versatility, talent and championship experience to the team,” The Cavs manager David Griffin said in a press release.

“He will impact both ends of the floor and his ability to guard multiple positions will be particularly important for us. Shawn is an accomplished, high-caliber veteran that will help with leadership on and off the court and we’re very happy to welcome him to the Cavaliers family.”

The former All-Star forward Marion will wear No. 31 with the Cavs and joins LeBron James on a revamped roster including Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving.
